Brillante avvio per la limited release di Cosmopolis in America/Bright debut weekend for Cosmopolis in the US

Uscito solo in tre cinema in tutti gli States dal 17 agosto, Cosmopolis dalle prime proiezioni ufficiali  avrebbe incassato la cifra imprevista di 96.437 dollari.La media per località  è altissima, la migliore limited release in assoluto degli ultimi tempi, commentano gli analisti cinematografici

In particolare Indiewire commenta:

Il film di David Cronenberg “Cosmopolis” –  che arriva fresco di una notevole quantità di stampa in cui viene citato  grazie  alla sua star, Robert Pattinson che  è al centro di una delusione amorosa è arrivato su tre 3 schermi questo fine settimana  con  numeri ragionevolmente forti. 72.327 $ di incassi,  Con una media di  $ 24.109  a cinema.

Cosmopolis con questo risultato rappresenta l’uscita della settimana con la media più alta per sala, anche rispetto ai titoli di testa come The expendables (che guadagna per sala circa 8000 dollari ed è distribuito in più di 2000 sale a livello nazionale.

E si pone saldamente, per l’incasso globale, in testa alla classifica dei film indipendenti e in limited release negli Stati Uniti portandosi sopra una serie di film appena usciti dal Sundance Festival

Questo  risultato come media è al di sotto  del debutto di  ”A Dangerous Method” sempre di Cronemberg (che in media $ 41.988  incassava  da 4 schermi lo scorso novembre), ma supera di gran lunga  il debutto che lo stesso film, “Cosmopolis”  aveva fatto nella madrepatria del regista, il Canada, all’inizio di questa estate, sempre in un numero ristretto di sale (24) e dove aveva registrato al suo debutto $ 56.566 in un numero più alto di sale contro le 3 statunitensi. Resta da vedere di quanti cinema verrà aumentata la release americana.

update: EOneEntertainment comunica che il film verrà allargato a 40 sale in tutti gli States dal 24 agosto (elenco delle sale qui)

That’s well below the debut of Cronenberg’s last film “A Dangerous Method” (which averaged $41,988 from 4 screens last November), but far exceeding the debut “Cosmopolis” had in Cronenberg’s native Canada earlier this summer.

Entertainment One gave “Cosmopolis” a limited release north of the border in June. On 24 screens, the film grossed just $56,566 over its first weekend, less than it did in the United States on just 3 screens. How it fares as it expands outside the most major markets in the latter remains to be seen.

Update : Cosmopolis will be extended to 40 theaters in all the US on August 24 (list of theatres here  ) by EOneEntertainment
