I suoi fan sono stati molto emozionati quando Robert Pattinson ha visitato Berlino poche settimane fa. L’attore non era lì per promuovere il suo ruolo del vampiro in “Twilight”, ma per presentare l’adattamento cinematografico di David Cronenberg di Don DeLillo “Cosmopolis”.
Abbiamo parlato con l’inglese dei suoi ruoli vecchi e nuovi e anche dei momenti migliori e peggiori per lui dello scorso anno

INTERVIEW: Mr. Pattinson, sono di nuovo lunghi i tuoi capelli . Ma li hai avuti corti per un periodo. Per quale ruolo li avevi tagliati, “Cosmopolis” o “Bel Ami?”
ROB: Nessuno dei due, è stato per un film in cui interpreterò il soldato che ha trovato Sadam Hussein. Le riprese dovevano cominciare in primavera, ma è stata rinviato fino all’autunno.

INTERVIEW:Hai lasciato il genere fantasy e i tuoi ruoli sono sono diventati più realistici, sei d’accordo?
ROB : Come attore, devi solo essere molto fortunato ad avere grandi ruoli e quando me ne piace uno, colgo l’occasione. Se poi risultano essere più realistici, o è una coincidenza o accade inconsciamente.
INTERVIEW: Di fronte al “Kino International” qui a Berlino – dove “Comospolis” sarà presentato in anteprima questa sera – le fans fedeli si sono accampate da ieri. Sei consapevole che potrebbero spaventarsi con ruoli come il tuo in Comospolis? Le tue fans potrebbe desiderare di vedere il vampiro Edward Cullen, invece di Eric Packer, un miliardario con una crisi di identità.
ROB: non credo che sia il caso. Da quando ho girato “Bel Ami” è successo qualcosa di strano: le mie fans mi hanno dato in regalo i miei libri preferiti . Ieri ero a Parigi e alla prima vi era una fila di persone che volevano darmi libri! E ‘incredibile, non è vero?
INTERVIEW:: Sei contento dei libri? E pensi davvero di portarli tutti con te?
ROB: Certo, c’erano davvero ottimi libri tra quelli che mi hanno dato. Tra cui uno scritto da Lawrence Ferlinghetti.
INTERVIEW:: Speri che le tue fans possano imparare qualcosa dai tuoi adattamenti cinematografici?
ROB: Anche se solo una persona tra le centinaia viene ispirata a leggere il libro corrispondente e lo appronfondisse (si riferisce a Cosmopolis ndt), sarebbe meraviglioso. Cinema può essere qualcosa di più del puro divertimento, almeno qualche volta.
INTERVIEW:È per questo che hai detto che non vuoi più recitare in film per teenagers? Rob: Sì, ho letto anche questo. Qualcuno mi ha frainteso o voluto fraintendere. Chi dice che “Cosmopolis” non era un film per adolescenti Se c’è una scena di sesso o di violenza in un film, questo viene automaticamente classificato come un film per gli adulti, indipendentemente da ciò di cui parla. Tali categorie sono completamente assurde. No, non mi sarei mai davvero sognato dire qualcosa del genere!
INTERVIEW: Ma “Cosmopolis” non è davvero un film per ragazzi giovani, è vero?
ROB: Beh, da adolescente non mi sconvolgevo così facilmente. E ad essere onesti: ogni adolescente guarda hardcore-porn al giorno d’oggi e, probabilmente, ha visto cose peggiori rispetto a quelle di questo film.
INTERVIEW:Sì, è vero. Ciò significa che i genitori non hanno motivi per essere preoccupato di “Cosmopolis”. Tutti i fan di Twilight possono essere inviati al cinema senza esitazione!
ROB: Si, a meno che i genitori non abbiano qualche cosa contro i dialoghi. Se pensano “Oh no, non voglio che i miei figli ascoltino così tante parole!” allora probabilmente dovrebbero essere apprensivi verso il nostro film!
INTERVIEW:Parlando di rating del film: sei nudo in tutti i tuoi film.
ROB: Davvero? Questo è effettivamente vero.
INTERVIEW: Come ti senti quando devi togliere i vestiti sul set?
ROB: Sono britannico. Siamo sempre più insicuri di altri. Tutti sono sempre rilassati sul set, anche se girano una scena di nudo.Io sono sempre terribilmente teso e ansioso. INTERVIEW: E non va migliorando nel tempo?
ROB: Quando ho fiducia nel regista e il film lo richiede per essere bello diventa più facile. Ma se non fosse questo il caso, mi sentirei come una prostituta. (Ride) INTERVIEW: Hai avuto un anno entusiasmante, qual è stata la vostra esperienza più incredibile e quella peggiore?
Rob: Beh .. ehm, ce ne sono state molte di entrambe. Direi che il fatto che il nostro film accettato a Cannes è una delle più sorprendenti. Sono molto grato per questo. Sai, speravo di avere un film in concorso da dieci anni ,ma improvvisamente è accaduto ora Assolutamente incredibile.
INTERVIEW:: Questo significa che non avevi un piano per la tua carriera che ti portasse direttamente a Cannes?
ROB: Sai una cosa, fin dal primo film “Twilight” tutti i giornalisti mi hanno chiesto se avevo paura di essere scritturato sempre e solo per alcuni ruoli . E poi il primo film che ho girato quando ho finito la saga di Twilight arriva a essere in concorso a Cannes. Questo mi ha completamente stordito.
INTERVIEW:: E cosa pensi di te stesso nel tuo primo ruolo non-vampiro?
ROB: mi piace il film. Penso che sia il mio miglior lavoro. Mi sono sempre sentito a disagio a guardare me stesso sul grande schermo finora, ma in questo caso era l’esatto opposto.
INTERVIEW: Che cosa ti piace di più del tuo ruolo?
ROB: Questo può sembrare un po ‘strano ma mi piace come suonano le parole del testo quando le si recita. Il linguaggio, le frasi, come sono organizzate – è tutto bellissimo.
INTERVIEW: Quale frase in particolare?
ROB: “è l’odore delle mie noccioline che senti ” era incredibile e anche: “Credo che il mio organo sessuale stia rientrando nel mio corpo in questo momento” è anche molto grande quanto assurda.
INTERVIEW:: ora abbiamo parlato dei tuoi momenti più belli, ma quali sono stati i peggiori, allora?
ROB: Il mio cane si è ammalato, è stato molto triste (ride). Ma in realtà, è stato terribile! Sta meglio ora, però.

His fans were very excited when Robert Pattinson visited Berlin a few weeks ago. The actor wasn’t here to promote his role of the vampire in “Twilight”, but to present David Cronenberg’s film adaptation of Don DeLillo’s “Cosmopolis”.
We spoke with the Englishman about his old and new roles and also about his best and worst moments of last year.

INTERVIEW: Mr. Pattinson, your hair has gotten longer again. You had your hair cut into a buzz cut back then. Was it for your role in “Cosmopolis” or “Bel Ami?”

ROB: Neither, it was for a movie in which I’m playing a soldier who found Sadam Hussein. The shoot was supposed to start in spring but it was postponed until fall.

INTERVIEW: Your roles left the fantasy genre and have become more realistic, do you agree?

ROB: As an actor, you just have to be very lucky to get great roles and when I like one, I’ll take the opportunity. If they do get more realistic, it’s either a coincidence or it happens subconsciously.

INTERVIEW: In front of the “Kino International” here in Berlin – where “Comospolis” will premiere this evening – faithful fans have been camping out since yesterday. Do you think about the possibility of scaring them off with such roles [as yours in Comospolis]? Your fans might want to see the vampire Edward Cullen instead of Eric Packer, a billionaire with an identity crisis.

ROB: I don’t think that is the case. Since I shot “Bel Ami” something peculiar happened: my fans gave me my favorite books as presents. Yesterday I was in Paris and at the premiere there was a queue of people who wanted to give me books! It’s incredible, isn’t it?

INTERVIEW: Are you happy about the books? And do you really take them all with you?

ROB: Of course, there were really excellent books among them. Including one written by Lawrence Ferlinghetti.

INTERVIEW: Do you hope that your fans will learn something from your film adaptations?

ROB: Even if only one person among hundreds was inspired to read the corresponding book and deals with it in greater depth, it would be wonderful. Cinema can be more than pure entertainment, at least sometimes.

INTERVIEW: Is that why you said you don’t want to act in teen movies anymore? I read that.

ROB: Yes, I saw that too. Someone misunderstood me or wanted to misunderstand. Who says that “Cosmopolis” wasn’t a teen movie? If there is a sex or violent scene in a movie it is automatically classified as a movie for adults, regardless of what the topic is about. Such categories are completely absurd. No, I would never really say something like that!

INTERVIEW: But “Cosmopolis” isn’t really a movie for young teens, is it?

ROB: Well, I wasn’t easily shocked even as a teenager. And to be honest: every teenager watches hardcore-porn nowadays and probably has seen more blatant things than the stuff in our movie.

INTERVIEW: Yes, that’s true. That means parents have no reasons to be apprehensive of “Cosmopolis”. All the “Twilight” fans can be sent to the cinema without hesitation!

ROB: Unless the parents have something against dialogues. If they think “Oh no, I don’t want my kids to deal with so many words!” then they probably should be apprehensive of our movie!

INTERVIEW: Speaking of movie ratings: you are naked in every movie of yours.

ROB: Right? That’s actually true.

INTERVIEW: How do you feel when you have to take off your clothes on set?

ROB: I’m British. I’m always more insecure than others. Everyone is always relaxed on set, even when they shoot a nude scene. I’m always terribly tensed and anxious.

INTERVIEW: And it doesn’t get better?

ROB: When I trust the director and absolutely want the movie to end up great, it has gotten easier now. But if that’s not the case I’ll feel like a prostitute. (laughs)

INTERVIEW: You had an exciting year, what was your most amazing experience and what was the worst?

ROB: Well.. hm, there were many of both. I’d say the fact that our movie got accepted at Cannes is one of the most amazing ones. I’m very grateful for that. You know, I hoped to have a movie in competition there in maybe ten years but all of the sudden that exactly happens now. Absolutely unbelievable.

INTERVIEW: That means you didn’t have a plan for your career that would directly lead you to Cannes?

ROB: You know what, ever since the first “Twilight” movie all the journalists asked me if I was afraid to only be cast for certain roles. And then the first movie I shot when I finished the Twilight Saga gets to be in competition at Cannes. That totally stunned me.

INTERVIEW: And what did you think of yourself in your first non-vampire role?

ROB: I love the movie. I think it’s my best work. I’ve always felt uncomfortable watching myself on the big screen so far but in this case it was the total opposite.

INTERVIEW: What did you like most about your role?

ROB: This may sound a bit strange but I like how the words sound when you speak them out loud. The language, the sentences, how they are arranged – it’s all beautiful.

INTERVIEW: Which sentence did you like most?

ROB: I thought “That’s my peanuts you smell” was amazing. “I believe my sexual organ is retreating into my body right now” is also very great and absurd.

INTERVIEW: Now we spoke about your best moments, but which were the worst ones then?

ROB: My dog got sick, that was very sad (laughs). But really, it was terrible! He’s feeling better now, though.
