“Bello, giovane, ricco e famoso, Robert Pattinson, rivelazione del cinema nell’ultimo lustro, già a quindici anni fa parte della compagnia Barnes Theatre Company di Londra, la città in cui è nato nel 1986, sognando di emulare Jack Nicholson, da sempre il suo idolo. Nel 2004 sembra che il suo desiderio venga esaudito: viene scelto per una piccola parte nel film Vanity Fair di Mira Nair, anche se poi quasi tutte le scene vengono elininate.
Un anno dopo, la grande occasione: Mike Newell lo sceglie per Harry Potter e il calice di fuoco. Robert interpreta Cedric Diggory, uno dei migliori maghi della scuola. Grazie a questo ruolo diventa un idolo delle ragazzine, viene inserito tra le stelle del futuro dal Times Online e considerato “l’erede” di Jude Law. Ma è con Twilight di Catherine Hardwicke, tratto dal romanzo di Stephenie Meyer, che si fa conoscere in tutto il mondo, nei panni fantastici di Edward,vampiro innamorato di una coetanea “umana”. Torna ad interpretare lo stesso personaggio anche nei sequel New Moon di Chris Weitz e nel recentissimo Eclipse in attesa di girare il quarto e ulti mo capitolo Breaking Dawn.
Tra una pausa e l’altra dal set trova il tempo di impersonale un giovane ribelle in Remember Me (2010) diretto da Alan Coulter. Poi viene ingaggiato da Madeline Stowe, per la prima volta in veste di regista, per Unbound Captives, film ambientato nel west. Ha finito lo scorso maggio di girare il film tratto dal romanzo di Guy de Maupassant Bel Amì, per la regia di Donnellan e Ormerod e ora (al momento dell’ uscita dell’ articolo) è impegnato nelle riprese di Water for Elephant, diretto da Francis Lawrence.

A day after, another big occasion:Mike Newell chose him for Harry Potter in the role of Cedric Diggory, one of the best magician of the magician school. He became an idol for young girls and Times Online considered him “a star of the future” and Jude Law’s heir. In the following two years he is in the cast of Haunting Airman on BBC and The Bad Mother’s Handbook (director Robin Shepper) on ITV. In 2008 he won a prize as best actor for How To Be by Oliver Irving at the Strasbourg International Movie Festival.

But fame arrived with the role of Edward in the Catherine Hardwicke’s Twilight from Stephenie Meyer’s book , and he bacame famous worldwide in the role of the vampire in love with a young uman girl.
